disproportionately high rates of hair loss, yet resources and solutions are often hidden, inaccessible, or
too expensive.
Hair loss is not just physical — it carries an emotional weight. It can shake someone’s identity,
confidence, and mental health. Women and men in treatment or recovery often say they don’t feel like
themselves when they look in the mirror.
Avalon Medical Solutions exists to close this gap. We make insurance-covered, custom medical wigs
accessible, so that dignity, beauty, and self-esteem are restored — not seen as luxuries.

Founders story
About the Founder:
Shavon Benson — known as Young Chevey Avalon — is more than a founder; she is a visionary.
Growing up on the West Side of Chicago, Shavon witnessed firsthand the weight of poverty, violence, and limited resources. From the age of 11, she turned to hair as both an outlet and a gift, styling cousins and friends with a natural touch that shifted spirits long before she knew it was her calling.
Her journey wasn’t easy. As the “black sheep” of her family, she often felt misunderstood, yet she carried a deep conviction that beauty and healing could coexist. That conviction grew stronger when she watched loved ones battle cancer and alopecia, losing not only their hair but pieces of their identity. The first time she placed a customized wig on a family member, she saw it — the spark returning, the smile breaking through pain. That moment showed her this work was bigger than her.
Shavon went on to run a successful wig store in Oak Park for six years, helping countless women feel whole again. But she wanted more than retail. She wanted systemic change. She founded Avalon Medical Solutions to bridge the gap between beauty, medicine, and access. By securing insurance coverage for medical wigs, Shavon ensures that no woman, veteran, or child has to choose between dignity and affordability.
